Ooohhh, that feeling--

You know that feeling when you find a cool thing that sparks an idea for a project, and you get all the prepping and fiddly  parts for the first part done, and  then change your mind several times about the second part and finally get it just right, and then you think, “No—not quite yet--” so you fiddle around some more and redo and redo,  and then  find just the right embellishments,  and then that part is done so you are playing with the whole piece, all angles, not satisfied but not sure why, and then you get another idea and start looking all over your stash and Etsy and Ebay and Michaels, and try out one idea but it’s too bulky, so you get side-tracked by a great alternative, and start working on that—but it’s too tall, so you experiment with a dozen other bits, and they aren’t right, and then you get a flash of inspiration, and you know you have the things you want somewhere, but can’t find them, but accidently find something even better, and you put it together and it’s perfect!  Yeah—THAT feeling!  That’s how I felt yesterday after a great day at the studio.  It felt particularly good after a long bout of the winter blahs.

I saw this antique toaster at a local antique store and HAD to have it.  So cool-looking!  I’ve been thinking about it for a while, and finally got started, and the flow was great over the couple days it took to complete (see above!)  That fabulous “CLICK” when it’s right—so satisfying.  I was totally jazzed all the way home and into the night.

I see lots of possible futures for this particular piece.

A.       It could be a shower or wedding gift.   It could be shared with all the guests at the shower and/or wedding to offer their “wise advise” –for each partner in their own book.  Then the couple could keep adding to it as they grow together and gain their own wisdom.

B.      An anniversary gift.  The couple could write down the story of their marriage as they remember it—and share it at a later anniversary—preferably way down the road.  Wouldn’t that be interesting?  I wonder how much would be the same story.

C.      Books for a couple to write in the other’s book—notes, comments, letters, love notes--

I love to think about it.

Anyhow—this dear thing will go on Etsy and find its home—as soon as we get that far.  Meanwhile—I smile at it a lot.
