Michigan Jammie # 6(?)
August 17-19, 2018
CZTs only

How it Works

The Jammie (so-called because we pretty much stay in our Jammies!) is three days long (Fri-Sun). We are fortunate to have the option of arriving Thursday night and leaving Monday AM with no extra charge, so we get the full three days to play, learn and rest.
We meet for those  days and nights in a sweet little retreat center in Laingsburg,  Michigan..  The retreat is a craft retreat which allows us to keep our stuff set up for the entire time and to work anytime we feel like it—day or night
.

The "Curriculum"

We have an “a la carte”  plan for teaching.   Anyone who wants to,  teaches a 1/2 to 3 hour class--something you love, more or less Zentangle related. You will be responsible for bringing the supplies that are unique to the class and/or providing a supply list. The cost of the supplies you provide can be listed in our final schedule so that each of us can reimburse the teacher at the time of the class.
Each person who is teaching will teach one class/demo/whatever, and then we will start cycling around again until we run out of time or classes. (YES, we have that much talent and generosity!)
The rest of our "art" time is spent working on projects using what we've learned, messing around, sharing, tangling happily--whatever pleases you.
No pressure on those who want to just partake--the whole point of Jammie is fun and relaxation.  I am aiming for 4-6 hours of class for each of the three days.
We have had such riches offered--everything from advanced ZIA techniques to new tangles to book making to eco-printing to fired aclohol inks on glass to needle-felting (we made our own felted Bijous!)--and so much more.  We always learn SO MUCH!

The Venue--Rose Villa Retreat Center
http://www.rosevillaretreat.com/

We meet for these four days (plus the evening before and the morning after to accommodate travel and to make sure you don't miss a thing!) in a sweet little retreat center in Laingsburg,  Michigan, to play and learn—low pressure.  The retreat is a craft retreat which allows us to keep our stuff set up for the entire time and to work anytime we feel like it—day or night.  Rose Villa Retreat Center is the most unlikely place to hold a stellar retreat--a two-story storefront space in a tiny rural town--but you will be happy here, and delighted with how well it works.

Because the venue accommodates only 14, workshops are intimate and lush.   We have lots of time together--and room to hide out when desired!

Your registration fee includes your room, breakfasts and plenty of snacks.  We are literally steps from several restaurants (not particularly fancy, but good enough ) There are fancier ones about ½ hour away in Lansing, or St Johns.

The town is safe and small.  There is a post office, hardware store, library, several churches, a gas station, a grocery, and a nice park all within blocks.  Sleepy Hollow State park is three miles away.

There is a full kitchen at the Rose Villa, so you have the option to bring food or shop nearby for food for lunches and dinners.

Rooms are 2-3 per room and comfortable.  There are 5 beds available on the main floor, so if you must avoid stairs, please let me know ASAP

We can pick people up from Flint or Lansing Airports.  If you are coming from Detroit Airport, you will need to rent a car or take the Michigan Flyer.  In the past there has been carpooling.

We will have a closed FB group once you sign up, so arrangements and updates happen there.
